Intensives
Deeper work. Fewer sessions. Real change faster.
What Is a Therapy Intensive?
A therapy intensive is an extended, focused session, typically a half day or full day, that creates space for deeper therapeutic work than a standard 50-minute session allows.
Instead of spreading work across months of weekly appointments, an intensive condenses it. You go deeper in a more intentional manner without skipping the steps that matter. For people carrying complex trauma, attachment wounds, or layered patterns that weekly therapy has only begun to touch, an intensive can be the difference between circling the same material and actually moving through it.
Intensives are for people who are motivated and ready
Intensives are great for people who have done some work and want to go deeper
Intensives are ideal for those who are motivated to feel differently and are ready to lean into their healing process.
What To Expect:
A pre-intensive consultation to clarify goals, history, and intention setting for the intensive experience
A 3+ hour intensive experience with customized format and timing to meet your needs and goals
Integration of EMDR and IFS tailored to match our co-created healing plan
A post-intensive debrief and integration session
Follow-up support as needed
EMDR & IFS Integration: Why It Works
EMDR and IFS are two of the most effective trauma therapies available. Used together, they're more effective than either alone.
Here's why:
EMDR targets traumatic memories at the level of the nervous system by reducing their emotional charge so they stop driving present-day reactions. But trauma doesn't live in isolation. It lives inside different parts of us: the part that never felt safe, the part that learned to perform for love, the part that shut down to survive.
That's where IFS comes in. Before processing a memory with EMDR, IFS helps us identify which parts are needing attention, what they need, and we’re able to get permission from your parts before beginning EMDR reprocessing.
In a typical integrated intensive:
We begin with IFS by getting to know the parts present, building trust, identifying what's ready to be worked on
We move into EMDR by processing the targeted memory or experience with bilateral stimulation
We return to IFS by checking in with parts after processing, installing new beliefs, integrating what shifted
We close with grounding and a clear integration plan
The result isn't just symptom relief. It's a internal structural change in how your nervous system responds, how your parts relate to each other, and how you show up in your own life.
Who Is This For?
Intensives are a strong fit if you:
Have been in weekly therapy and feel ready to go further or faster
Have a busy schedule that makes consistent weekly sessions difficult
Are a professional, entrepreneur, or leader who travels frequently or has unpredictable availability
Want to address something specific, a particular memory, pattern, or stuck point in a focused way
Have tried weekly therapy and felt like 50 minutes isn't enough time to get anywhere meaningful
Are approaching a major life transition and want deeper support going into it
Want to do significant work without committing to months of weekly sessions first
Intensives are particularly effective for:
Complex PTSD and layered trauma histories
Attachment wounds and relationship patterns
Perfectionism, burnout, and high-functioning anxiety
Fear of failure, self-criticism, and the inner critic
People-pleasing and codependency
OCD and intrusive thoughts
Workplace trauma
Identity transitions and major life changes
Women navigating Perimenopause
What to Expect
Before the intensive: We meet for a pre-intensive consultation, typically 60 minutes. We clarify your goals, review your history, identify what we're working toward, and make sure the intensive format is the right fit. You'll know exactly what to expect going in.
During the intensive: Sessions are paced by your nervous system. We move between IFS and EMDR fluidly following what's present, checking in frequently, and making sure you're grounded and stable throughout. There's no pressure to "get through" a set agenda.
What our time looks like:
Opening check-in and orientation
IFS work: connecting with parts, building safety, identifying targets
EMDR processing: bilateral stimulation, sets, check-ins
Return to IFS: integration, installing new beliefs, working with parts post-processing
Embodied grounding and closure
Debrief and integration planning
After the intensive: Processing continues after we finish, sometimes for days. You may feel tired, emotionally tender, or notice things shifting in ways you don't expect. This is normal. It's the work continuing. We debrief within a week and create a clear plan for integration and next steps.
FAQ’s:
How do I know if I need an intensive or weekly therapy?
If you’ve been in therapy before but still feel stuck, or if you’re navigating chronic burnout, trauma and need a reset or deeper nervous-system regulation, an intensive can help you create momentum and lasting change.
Can I do an intensive online or in-person?
Yes. I offer virtual therapy in Colorado and California, and intensives can be done safely online. Many clients prefer the comfort and privacy of doing deep work from home. I also offer the option of creating an in-person option for the Multi - Day Intensives customized and created to your individual needs.
